Two-Eyed Seeing Dyeing & Weaving Workshop:

Introductory workshop where participants will learn the magic and wonder of natural dyeing using locally-available sources and then weaving a small project. We will cover dyeing process and tapestry techniques.

We will balance the traditional Indigenous Knowledge with western science. Both perspectives provide students opportunities to deepen their connection with the natural world.

Teachers:

Nadine McSpadden is a proud member of the Shuswap Band which is located near Radium, BC. Nadine has recently retired from teaching and after working in Indigenous Education for over 20 years, she looks forward to sharing her knowledge with you.

Zoe McDonell is a textile artist specializing in natural dyeing using plants, windfall lichens, and mushrooms from the forest. She has been teaching workshops and giving lectures and demonstrations on historical textile techniques for over 20 years. When not teaching, Zoe is an ecologist and studies how forest communities can be better protected.
